One Past, One to Go

K_Camera_Christmas_2012

We had a great Christmas, and I hope you did too!  My brother came in from Boston this morning, so we will be having Christmas #2 today.

I don’t post a lot of pictures of my kids, and if I do, I always ask them first.  I loved this one.  It’s not the best photo, but I will always remember the Christmas that my son asked for a camera.  Now normally, his “Santa List” consists of  tools, engine parts, etc., but this year, it was a camera.  With a bit of help from Mom, he selected the Nikon 1V1.  It’s a neat little mirrorless ILC camera, and this was a photo that I took as he spent the afternoon learning to use it.  He’s got a really good eye, and the things I really struggle to see, he seems to see naturally.  I noticed this over the past year as he increasingly began to take more photos with his iPhone, and then sent them to me.  Don’t know where it will go, but I will enjoy it for as far as he takes it.

It’s almost 2013!  I wish you a New Year filled with all good things.

Happy New Year, have a great weekend, and I’ll be back here more regularly, next week!

  • Much concentration, he’s engrossed in something, for sure!

Is the scrolling/auto changing pics at the top of your blog built in to your blog template? Or did you add it? I’ve been looking for one forever, it’s such a neat addition. =)

Thank you for the suggestion on shooting the pink hue in the sky at night, I appreciate you! It’s suppose to snow the next couple days, so I should be able to try it out. =)

    • Tricia,
I am now using WordPress instead of Blogger, and this function is one of the built-ins of the theme. I have however, seen this done on Blogger, and I would imagine it can be done using some CSS code.

  • This is a great picture, Lisa. I love how intently he is looking as he inspects his new toy! I was overjoyed when I got my Nikon D5000 a year ago. I’m sure he will capture interesting things and see differently in doing so through a lens.

  • What a heart-lifter it must be to find your son is interested in photography. The bug has hit him for sure and I know you will enjoy each others hobby through the years. Neither of my sons seem to be too interested though my younger one is happy enough to capture a moment with his phone occasionally.

Wonderful photo of your boy. I’ll be posting some of mine tomorrow – without permission.. I just don’t ask… I tell! ;) (but I also know that they don’t mind one bit).
