Feeling Christmasy

For me, there are 4 things that definitely need to happen before I feel Christmasy. First is the cookie baking, second is making sure my kids have Advent calendars (thanks to my wonderful husband this year for finding them when I could not!). Third is watching “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” not the movie, but the very old Boris Karloff narrated version. Finally, fourth is watching the tree lighting in Rockefeller Center (NYC). Now I’ve only seen the tree lighting in person just 4 times, but I never ever miss it on television. When that tree lights up, it is purely magical, and at that point, it is most definitely the Christmas season for me.
If you’ve never seen it, it is a sight to behold and it’s happening tonight, so tomorrow, with the exception of Mr. Grinch, I will be all Christmasy!

Hi, Lisa. I don’t know why I don’t come here more often, but have remedied that problem by adding you to my blogroll. I wanted to tell you that there is a wonderful online advent calendar that I received as a gift this year. It’s the Jackie Lawson one, and it’s really sweet and perfect for children. I was so impressed with it and just wanted to pass it along to you. Will be leaving for Daryl’s place in the early morning and was just watching Ray’s newest video and saw your comment come up. Take care and Happy Holidays ~

Hi Lisa! What a pretty image! I love the words, memories, dreams, and love on it, so Christmasy. One of my favorite Christmas movies is It’s a wonderful Life. We watch it every year. I, too, love the lighting of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. I’m going to shoot some photos of it this weekend and will post them on my blog. Can’t wait to see the tree in person, so exciting! Hope you’re enjoying this special time with your family xo

Hi Lisa,
The tree lighting must be amazing in person! I usually catch it on television and love the show that goes along with it. It has always been a wish of mine to spend a Christmas in NYC! It will happen eventually. Enjoy getting in the spirit. I have 2 Christmas parties to attend next weekend so I think that will really get me in the spirit.

Your beautiful photo makes me feel pre-Christmasy. It’s sometimes hard to get the feeling in AZ but, as soon as I get a couple of Christmas gifts under my belt, I’ll probably start feeling it. We don’t usually decorate until about 12/15 and then it hits, hopefully.

Lisa ~ Lovely Xmas image! Bet you’re feeling very Christmasy by today
Gotta love this time of year – kids home from college soon, wrapping gifts (well, shopping first!), pulling out all the old decorations and their associated memories, baking cookies, …so much to do and enjoy!!! Just remember to breath and hold on to the moments, right?

What a gorgeous image, Lisa! I’m not yet feeling Christmasy. It seems to have come along so early and we aren’t at all organised.
Hilary
Oooh.. pretty pic. It would make a fine card for the season.
Susan
Your wonderful photo has put me in the spirit! You should make this your Christmas card! I’ll be watching both the tree lighting and The Grinch.
Georgianna
Hi Lisa,
I love the timeless treatment of this image – beautiful and rich! For me, Christmas-y is egg nog coffee in the morning, photographing the carousel lights at dusk, hand addressing Christmas cards and listening to the old family music albums.
Wishing you and yours a beautiful season!
xoxo

Love this image- I’m not quite in the Christmas feel yet-although I have put some Christmas lights on our front fence. Love your traditions.

Your photo here makes me feel a little bit Christmasy, too!
Watching the tree lightning in Rockefeller Center is on my dream list!
Juli
Oh, I love your traditions for getting set for Christmas! Beautiful, Lisa. And, certainly putting me into the spirit, too!

Lisa
What a lovely photo to put a little Christmasy in our lives too! You never cease to inspire me. I watched the original Grinch last night on TV. It’s one of my favorites…along with Sam Elliot’s Prancer. Now about that baking……

Your photo is so pretty. I just love to hear the traditions we have to get us in the Christmas spirit. Yours sound perfect to me..

that photo and its message(s) would make an excellent holiday card … ho ho ho

Beautiful sepia tones in your photo. It’s nice that you have a routine like that to get you going. I got in the Christmas spirit earlier than usual this year because my daughter is coming to visit on Dec 5 and I wanted to have the house ready. I love decorating, but as soon as its over, I’m ready for my house to go back to normal.
gina
So you’ve already started your cookie baking, I guess. We do need a glimpse of those wonderful Christmas cookies!
This gift box is just beautiful!
Pat
I love the music from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and sang along with it the other night when it aired here., I love your sparkly gift box done in soft sepia tones and I’ll bet your house is full of the aroma of baking. Enjoy this magical season, Lisa!
Betty
Love the image, Lisa! I’m trying to get the feeling. Maybe the tree-lighting will help!
Kia
I love your sparkly Christmas box! Thanks for sharing the magic of Christmas with us!
For me Christmas usually starts on the first Sunday of Advent, but this year will start on December 1st with 3 advent calendars (all gifts from dear friends) for me and hubby to enjoy!
*hugs*

Looks like you truely love Christmas, I wish I did. As I get older I feel more like my Mom and get stressed out. This year I hope to change that as it will be a calm Christmas around here. Maybe it is because we don’t have snow which I think makes you slow down and have the home fires burning. I saw all the goodies you have made and since I am on a diet it was hard for me to watch but I also wish I could take advantage of all the sweetness. Looking forward to see how your Christmas folds out in images. Happy Holidays Lisa

i’m holding out for december before i think christmas.

What a pretty image. Love the run up to Christmas and Christmas traditions like yours. My daughter is so excited about the start of her advent calendar too! Haven’t started our Christmas viewing yet….I must go and look out our copy of It’s a Wonderful Life…..Hope the cookie baking all went well.

Hi,Lisa. I want to see Christmas lighting in Rockfeller center.
It became very cold these days in Tokyo.
I wish you would have a wonderful Christmas season.
Beverly
How fun to hear about your Christmasy feeling process! A month long celebration of Christmas is such an exciting time of the year. In my mind I can hear the song in Mr. Grinch now….:) A beautiful Christmas box – such a lovely processing! Now I wonder if the tree lighting will be shown in my area? I hope so! I’ll look forward to more of your Christmas posts. Wishing you a lovely week, Lisa! xo
lisa
Beverly,
It is televised nationally tonight on NBC.
Here on the east coast, it begins at 8:00 pm.
Claudia

I can’t believe it’s Christmas time again!
I’d love to see the tree lighting in person too!
Have a beautiful day Lisa!

beautiful image!:)
Sandra
I love your Christmas box with sparkly ribbon and design, all dressed in sepia to evoke Christmases past!
I don’t know who the Grinch is, I’m guessing it’s a traditional story for this time of the year!
What makes Christmas for me is the smell of mincepies cooking and tasting them with mulled wine. Watching “Scrooge” with excellent actor Albert Finney. This is a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”.
I can well imagine how lovely it is to see the lighting of the tree on Rockefeller Centre. I’ll look out for the televised event!
I also love to see the lighting of the tree in Trafalgar Square in London. It’s so beautiful to have traditions, isn’t it?
Becca
All beautiful things Lisa! Love that old Grinch story too. I remember “visiting” Seattle one year when they lit the Christmas tree downtown & the Macy’s star. It was so beautiful to see and I remember thinking how much I wanted to live here…:-) Now, this year, living here & seeing that star and the Christmas tree all lit up brought tears of joy to my eyes! Have some Christmasy fun Lisa!
Barbara
I get all Christmasy once my tree is decorated. I’m hoping that happens within the next few days!! I do love that old Grinch show, though, too. And also Rudolph…
